Project description
WINTER is a project implemented as part of the Coal and Steel Research Fund with the aim of creating an interactive online platform for effective transformation management in mining regions. The project focuses on providing appropriate guidance and strengthening the involvement of target groups in ongoing change processes.
The key activities of the project will revolve around three pilot regions, each representing a different stage of the transition process. Two pilot regions, the Western Macedonia region in Greece and the Konin region in Poland, are in the early stages of transition, while the Ruhr area in Germany represents the mature stage of transformation.
By facilitating the exchange of information and knowledge on the main challenges related to energy and social transformations in each pilot region, the project will identify best practices and the needs of potential users of the online tool. These users may include stakeholders from the coal industry, institutions involved in environmental management in post-mining areas, research organizations, the energy sector, socio-economic organizations, public health organizations, local authorities, and environmental legislation consultants. The platform created through the project will provide easy access to the information necessary for streamlining the existing transformation plans for the pilot.
