The activities of the Department include work in the following areas:

Development directions of waste management and water quality tests
Water chemistry tests in wells, surface waters and underground – in accordance with the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard
Qualitative and quantitative tests of metals in solutions by ICP-OES method
Qualitative and quantitative tests of elements of materials of various origins using the EDXRF X-ray fluorescence method
Biological utilization of waste materials of various origins – mining, organic, industrial
Bioremediation of polluted areas
Research on thermal conversion of lignite, biomass and organic waste
Use of mining waste, e.g. rock raw materials in various fields of economy, e.g. in agriculture
Technical analysis of coal and biomass
Microbiological and biochemical monitoring of soils, composts, waters, sewage and sewage sludge
Monitoring of underground and surface waters in the area of engineering structures, mainly lignite pits
