The aim of the SLOPES project is to improve monitoring methods and deepen the knowledge about the possibility of predicting natural hazards and to develop tools for analyzing landslide risk for slopes in lignite mines. The following works are planned within the framework of the project::
1. Development and implementation of LIDAR, UAV,technologies for obtaining detailed aviation monitoring data (surface displacements) and high resolution satellite interferometry (PSI) monitoring data in a operating lignite opencast mine.
2. Development and practical testing of an advanced in-situ monitoring and landslide early warning system in a lignite opencast mine.
3. Probabilistic analyses of available and newly acquired geotechnical data related to the analysis of slope stability to reflect the actual degree of risk in opencast mines.
4. Development and application of numerical models containing statistical analysis as well as the influence of natural factors on the degree of slope stability.
5. Collection of data for advanced characteristics of spoil dump soils and their detailed strength parameters under various geotechnical and
geo-environmental conditions.
6. Construction of a research instrumentation allowing to conduct laboratory tests for different conditions of mechanical loads and geo-environmental influences.
7. Development of constitutive models based on the results of laboratory tests and numerical modeling
