Project summary
The Dynamic Light project demonstrates the process of how a city or municipality can implement energy efficient lighting starting from the idea, GIS data mining and analysis, strategy development to financial models, procurement rules, investment implementation and evaluation. The aim was to provide municipal planners, municipal employees, authorities, technical consultants with tools to understand social needs, user preferences, technical, legal and financial capabilities and how they can be translated into dynamic lighting control strategies with use of new technologies.
These activities were accompanied by demonstration projects aimed at increasing the acceptance of energy-efficient lighting among end users and urban planners by improving the quality of dynamic lighting and adapting it to social needs. Eight pilot installations were implemented in various Central European countries. In this way, the technical aspects of lighting were combined with urban planning in order to fully exploit technological possibilities and create liveable and useable urban spaces whilst reducing energy consumption, limiting light pollution and supporting sustainable development of public spaces.
The project has contributed to increasing competences of public authorities by transferring knowledge about benefits of dynamic lighting and possibilities of application. Master plans, financial guidelines and trainings were developed to facilitate investment in intelligent and energy-saving lighting solutions in a long-term perspective.
In frame of the project Poltegor-Institute cooperated with the Municipality and Town of Lwówek Śląski. A strategy and action plan for public lighting development were prepared for the Municipality and concepts of dynamic lighting control in two streets in the town of Lwówek Śląski were developed.
